Antibiotic Resistance
In the U.S. antibiotic resistance is responsible for nearly 3 million infections and 35,900 deaths.

Why it's a Problem?

There has been a steady decline in the discovery of new and effective antibiotics due to increased costs and lack of adequate support from the government.

WHY SHOULD I BE CONCERNED?

Almost every type of bacteria has become stronger and less responsive to antibiotic treatment when it is really needed. These antibiotic-resistant bacteria can quickly spread to family members, schoolmates, and co-workers - threatening the community with a new strain of infectious disease that is more difficult to cure and more expensive to treat.

What can I do?

Antibiotics do not treat viral infections such as

Colds

Flu

Most coughs and bronchitis

Sore throats (except strep throat)

Some ear infections
